BriteWorks, Anita Ron
BriteWorks provides cleaning assistance for well-known companies including Disney and the Los Angeles County Department of Education. Ron has 130 employees who solve cleaning problems 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
When Ron was first getting started she was willing to solve any type of cleaning conundrum to grow her business. That positive, can-do attitude carved out her company as a place where clients could come for tailor-made solutions. The list of her company’s services is wide-ranging, including general cleaning, floor care, graffiti removal, pressure washing, and transit/bus cleaning.
Like many businesses, BriteWorks got its start on a shoestring budget. Ron quickly realized that even though her business had modest funding, she had access to information through SCORE and her mentors. “By dealing with SCORE I became knowledgeable and more effective faster than I would have on my own,” she says. Even 21 years after starting her business, Ron continues to have monthly meetings with her mentor.
Ron is now a member of the SCORE CEO Forum, where she encourages future business owners. She stresses the need to love your chosen industry while having a strong work ethic. “There are going to be days where you have to stay up until 3 a.m. when everyone else is asleep to do that proposal,” she says. “Then you’re going to have to wake up at 6 a.m. and present to that client and be fresh and ready to go. So make sure you enjoy it!”
After she was laid off following a restructuring at her workplace, Anita Ron decided to take a chance and start a business. With $700 in hand she purchased three vacuum cleaners and launched the company that would become BriteWorks. Now, over two decades later, BriteWorks provides comprehensive janitorial services for commercial and industrial offices throughout California. Ron credits her company’s focus on customer service as the key to her continued growth.
