For 32 years, Jim was a Buyer/ Merchandiser for a large retailer for many categories including beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, water, energy drinks, enhanced water, coffee and tea drinks and locally sourced snacks. Jim was responsible for selecting the products, merchandising the category shelf sets, creating promotional plans and creating/ managing the financial plans for yearly sales and margin goals. This included negotiating with local to large CPG companies to develop plans to increase sales and margins of their products. Jim also worked to develop "own brand" products for his categories. This included developing the product formulations and packaging. Jim also worked to implement the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) program at Meijer. Jim worked on aligning the CRM program into the planning of promotions and selection of products for his categories. This included using targeted promotions to key customer segments for his categories and the measurement of success for those promotions.
